• Herniated Disk

  • What is a Spinal Disk?
    • A Spinal Disk is similar to a “Jelly Donut” with a softer center encased within a tougher exterior
  • What is a herniated disc?
    • A disk herniates or ruptures when part of the center nucleus pushes through the outer edge of the disk and back toward the spinal canal.  The spinal disc is similar to a jelly donut with a softer center encased within a tough exterior.
  • Herniated Disk Causes
    • Daily wear and tear on the spine
    • Injury- A sudden jerking movement can put too much pressure on a disc such as in a car accident
    • Combo of degeneration and injury- This occurs when the disc was weakened by wear and tear, which makes it more prone to herniate if you do experience a traumatic event.
